Funeral services for Bernice Haukoos, age 94, formerly of Walters will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the United Lutheran Church in Walters, The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Interment will be in the Walters Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church. &160;Bernice died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Bernice Haukoos was born July 31, 1911, to Nels and Ella (Halvorson) Monson in Lake Mills, Iowa.
She spent nearly her entire life in the Walters area and was baptized and confirmed in the
Lutheran faith. On Oct. 26, 1927, Bernice was united in marriage to Millard Haukoos in Blue Earth.
She was a member of the United Lutheran Church, WELCA, and a circle, and had worked at the church for 11 years. Bernice loved reading and enjoyed gardening, canning produce, and going on vacations to visit her children and grandchildren.
&160;Survivors include her children: Maxine Savick of Albert Lea, Beverly and husband, Leo Dylla of Wells, Patricia Haugh of Albert Lea, Dennis and wife, Inez Haukoos of Lakeville, Janis and husband, Earl Seay of Round Rock, Texas, Ronald and wife, Mary Haukoos of Bricelyn, and Marcia and husband, Richard Schorman of Villa Park, Ill.; 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Carma Buendorf of Blue Earth; sisters-in-law, Marie Monson of Austin, Arline Monson of Albert Lea, Pearl Lindeman of Albert Lea, and Margaret Haukoos of Walters; brothers-in-law, Wallace and wife, Marie Haukoos of Estherville, Iowa, and Earl Haukoos of Walters; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Millard in 1981; daughter, Betty and husband, Ray Dylla; son-in-law, Harold Haugh; grandchildren: Lori and Kari L. Haukoos and Sarah Haukoos; and great-grandchildren, Adam and Anne Reuter.
