Police officer aids with groceries

What a pleasant surprise!

On Monday, Labor Day, after I sat home alone all weekend, I decided to go shopping for some much-needed groceries. First I went to Nelson’s Market Place and then to Walmart. As I returned home to unload all I bought, I parked my vehicle in front of my house. First I unloaded all the groceries onto the boulevard and locked the vehicle doors. Just as I was going to start carrying everything into the house an Albert Lea Police Department patrol car pulled up behind me. An officer got out of his car and asked, “Can I help you?”

I just stood there not knowing what to say. So Lt. J.D. Carlson just said, “You go in the house and I’ll carry your groceries in for you.”

What a nice guy! And once again thank you very much for helping out an “old lady!” I appreciate it very much.
