Police described the incident this way. Deputies and police were called to 603 N. Star Lane in Hartland when they received reports of a loud drinking party at 9:51 p.m. Friday. Between 40 and 50 underage people were seen at the residence, many of whom were drinking beer, according to police.

Upon arriving at the residence, deputies and police learned that a 17-year-old boy referred to in the police report as MKC was involved in an argument at the party. According to police, the boy stabbed another person at the party in the shoulder.

The county attorney’s office confirmed a 17-year-old involved in the stabbing was charged with second-degree assault.

The criminal complaint filed in the county attorney’s office states the boy left the party after the argument and returned with his father, Brett Kelly Crumb.

The report states Crumb proceeded to argue with some of the teenage boys who were involved in the earlier argument with his son. The report said punches were thrown in the altercation.

According to the report, Crumb climbed into his automobile and began driving back and forth near the boys who had fought with his son. The police report states some of the boys who argued with his son were scared Crumb might run over them. Others told police they were concerned Crumb wished to run over them.

Crumb said Wednesday night he did not want to comment about the case without receiving advice from his attorney.

The assault charge carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine. The reckless driving charge carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Police did not release any information on the status of the stabbing victim. Questions remain on the severity of the injury and whether the teenager is OK.
