BLOOMING PRAIRIE &045; Blooming Prairie scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a 2-1 victory over NRHEG on Tuesday.
Molly Hacker pitched well for the Panthers not giving up a walk and striking out eight, but she was matched by the Awesome Blossoms’ Amy Manske who struck out 11 and walked a pair.
BP used a walk, a double and a single to score two in the first inning. It would have runners on second and third in both the fourth and fifth innings, but Hacker and her defense shut the door each time.
Gina Quiram scored the Panthers’ lone run in the fourth inning, but Jasmine Brouwers, who singled in the frame was stranded at third.
Sam Halvorson would start the seventh with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice and advanced to third on a ground out.
Heidi Halbakken drew a walk but the Panthers were unable to advance Halvorson the final 60 feet home.
Onika Peterson had a 2-for-3 night at the plate and Amanda Follmuth added another hit.
&8220;It was a very well played game by both teams,&8221; said NRHEG head coach Grant Berg. &8220;The girls played hard, never gave up and gave us a chance in the top of the seventh.&8221;
The Panthers are now 7-3 in conference play and 11-5 overall as they prepare to play Maple River tomorrow.
