Emma Meyer, 96, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Emma S. Meyer, age 96, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, at the United Lutheran Church of Walters. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Burial will be at the Walters Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Emma died Friday, April 28, 2006, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Emma Sarah Meyer was born on March 21, 1910, in Frost, Minn., the daughter of John and Carrie (Bristol) Hanson. She attended school in the Wells School system and in October of 1930 she was united in marriage to Alfred Meyer at the Little Brown Church. Emma was a homemaker while her children were growing. She was an excellent cook and baker and she used those talents working for the Walter’s Caf where people would come from many miles to be served by her. She also worked at the Merchant’s Egg Corporation, Sauer’s General Store and Land O’ Lakes.
Emma was very active in her church where she taught Sunday School and belonged to the Women of the Church. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.
Emma is survived by her children, Sharon and husband Curtis R. Jensen, Albert Lea, and Allan and wife Candace Meyer, Lakeville; Grandchildren, Scott and wife Peggy Jensen, Tammy Verchota, Chad and wife Karen Meyer, Michelle and Michael Redfearn and Andrea and husband Kevin Hickey; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred; daughter Sandra in infancy and son Bruce; seven sisters; and three brothers.
