USC/AC, NRHEG girls finish 1-2 at Maple River

MAPLETON &045;&160;The USC/AC and NRHEG girls’ track and field teams finished 1-2 at the Maple River Invite.
The Rebels had 95 1/2 points while the Panthers earned 93.
The USC/AC boys also won the team competition while the Panthers finished ninth.
Alison Anderson had both victories for the Panthers taking the 100 and the 200.
She led a 1-2 finish in the 200 running a 26.9 while Heather Schmit was second in 27.1.
Anderson picked up a second place finish
in the 400 and Alyssa Kerkhoff was third.
NRHEG also got a runner-up finish from Megan Groskreutz in the pole vault clearing 8-feet.
Jamie Klein won the 2-mile race for the Rebels with a time of 12:04.5 while NRHEG’s Karla Lewer was second in 12:48.
USC/AC’s Ciara Christenson won the intermediate hurdles race with a mark of 47.8. Becca Bryson took the top spot in the triple jump going 34 feet, 4 inches and was second in the long jump at 16-7 1/4.
The USC/AC boys’ squad got wins from Alex Ramaker in the 400 with a time of 52.6, while Amos Bessler took first in the 300 hurdles in 43.0 and the 110 hurdles running a 16.7.
Eric Youngblom finished with the top spot in the high jump clearing 5 feet, 8 inches and the Rebels 4×400 relay squad also won with a time of 3:36.1.
Brad Tomschin finished as the runner-up in the 800 posting a time of 2:02.6, Jordan Stenzel took second in the long jump at 20-1 1/2 and USC/AC added second place showings in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays.
Youngblom would finish third in both the 1-and 2-mile races for the Rebels.
The Panthers were led by Blake Kerkhoff’s runner-up finish in the 100 running an 11.8.
Travis Wayne had his best throw of the year in the discus at 113-6 1/2 to place sixth as did the 4×100 team of Greg Ramaker, Alexander Nicolay, Zac Swanson and Nic Beatty posting a time of 49.8.
