NEW RICHLAND &045; Mariah Tappe was not in the NRHEG lineup for the girls’ golf team, but that still was not enough to slow the Panthers.
Tappe, a sophomore, is the team’s leading scorer.
NRHEG downed Bethlehem Academy 238-251 behind Katie Walstrom’s 56 which was good enough to earn medalist honors.
Hannah Demmer fired a 57, Shelby Whitcomb added a 60 and Brittni Wangsness carded a 65 to round out the top four.
Paige Sorenson and Jessica Schultz shot 67 and 76 for the varsity as well.
&8220;The girls have a spotless record of 9-0 so far this season, but their perfect record will be seriously tested Monday as the Panthers go to Freeborn to play a very good USC team,&8221; said Panther head coach Xan Johnson.
The NRHEG boys’ team dropped a 173-193 decision to FBA.
Drew Harrington led NRHEG with a 45 and Ryan Kerkhoff added a 48.
Justin Kormann, Dalen Ferber both carded 50s, Seth Hansen added a 53 and Jon Kormann shot 54.
The Panthers, who are now 2-9 on the season, have two eighth-graders playing varsity.
&8220;Eighth-graders Dalen Ferber and Seth Hansen put in a respectable performance in their first varsity meet,&8221; said Johnson. &8220;Grant Wayland was the medalist for FBA with a 39.
