Glenville-Emmons won 46-14
Wyatt Madson was deadly accurate, and Derek Olson and Alex Golbuff each scored two touchdowns Friday as the Glenville-Emmons football team beat LeRoy-Ostrander 46-14 in LeRoy.
Olson scored the Wolverines’ (2-1, 2-1 Southeast) first touchdown with eight minutes remaining in the first quarter, and Caleb Schumaker added the two-point conversion, but the Cardinals (1-2, 1-2) responded and trimmed Glenville-Emmons’ lead to 8-6 entering the second quarter.
The Wolverines then scored 38 unanswered points, including 24 in the second quarter, until the Cardinals scored the game’s final touchdown with 7:15 remaining. It was the Wolverines’ second consecutive lopsided win. The team beat Lyle/Pacelli 68-2 last week in Glenville and has now outscored its opponents 136-41 this season.
“LeRoy-Ostrander was very hard hitting and a good test for us,” Wolverines coach Ryan Kelly said.
Madson, a junior, led the Wolverines’ offense by going 8-of-9 passing for 124 yards and two touchdowns. He also added a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter and ran for a team-high 83 yards. Golbuff was on the receiving end of both touchdown passes and finished with two catches for 51 yards. Senior Perry Kirsch, who led the team in receiving last season, had four receptions for 50 yards and six carries for 76 yards. Olson had a team-high 13 carries for 56 yards.
The Wolverines play again at 7 p.m. Friday against Lanesboro (2-1, 2-1) in Glenville. The Burros knocked off the Wolverines 52-8 in the Section 1 Nine-Man championship game last fall and is the defending state runner-up.
