Spring weather is resulting in more building permits being issued, according to the March reports from the City of Albert Lea Inspection Department and the Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office.

The city’s report shows 26 building permits with a valuation of $2,042,180 as being issued during March. This increases the total valuation for permits for the first three months of the year to $2,826,201.

At the end of March 2005 the city report shows the valuation for building permits as being $6,020,486.

The March permit with the highest valuation is $650,000 issued to Zogg Dermatology for a 62-by-69-foot professional building with attached garage at 2718 Ekko Ave.

A permit with a valuation of $350,000 was issued to Albert Lea Public Warehouse No. 2, 2202 Myers Road, for a 110-by-206-foot addition.

The new Veterans Memorial Wall will become a reality near the corner of South Broadway Avenue and East College Street with the issuance of a permit with a valuation of $250,000 during March.

Building permits for two new homes in Albert Lea with a total valuation of $405,000 were issued during March.

The March report from the Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office lists 12 building permits with a listed valuation of $574,396. This increases the estimated valuation for county permits to $769,153 for the first three months of 2006.

Among the county-issued permits during March were two for commercial towers, two new homes, two home additions and two new garages.
