The Albert Lea boys’ golf team did something head coach Riley Worth’s not sure he’s seen before Thursday, but it’s something he’d like to see more of as the season progresses.
The Tigers shot a 309 at Green Lea Golf Course to beat Waseca by 29 strokes, and Worth believed it to be the best score the team has posted in his five years as head coach. Last season Albert Lea shot 296 on a shortened Waseca course where par was 69.
“That’s a score I’d take every single time,” Worth said.
Albert Lea senior Tyler Haaland led the team for the second consecutive meet and earned medalist honors with a 1-over 73. Haaland was at 2-under through 16.
Tigers senior Tyler Brackey followed with a 76 while Brady Falk and Casey Marka both shot 80.
Albert Lea travels to Marshall Saturday for the Marshall Invite.
