St. Theodore Catholic School will hold its annual auction extravaganza starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Albert Lea Armory.

This year’s theme is “Out of this World.” There will be a silent auction starting at 6:30 p.m. and a live auction at 8:30 p.m. Also taking place will be the drawing for the Cosmic Cash Raffle. There are nine cash prizes with the top prize $1,000.

Uptown Sound will provide entertainment. There will be foods, desserts and a cash bar.

To reserve tickets, call the school office at 373-9657. Tickets are $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door.

Friday, April 16

The Susan DeVries and David Lenz art show will be open at the Albert Lea Art Center from noon to 4 p.m.

Bar Games in Northwood, Iowa, will host Kevin Craft from VH1’s “Tool Academy” at 9 p.m. There is a two-drink minimum to see the show.

Saturday, April 17

The fourth annual Tiger Trot, in conjunction with the Albert Lea Family Y’s Fountain Lake 5, will be held at 9 a.m., starting at Brookside Middle School. Registration is $20. Same-day registration will also be available from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m., but those registering that day will not be guaranteed a T-shirt. Register online at Southwest Middle School or at the Albert Lea Family YMCA. Southwest Middle School student racers will be collecting pledges. All proceeds will go to the Southwest Middle School student activity fund, which defrays the expenses of student field trips, assemblies and other student-centered events. The top three males and females from each age division will receive awards. The awards will be presented near the finish line shortly after the race is over.

Northbridge Mall will host the Family Fun Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a number of activities for young children and their families. Admission is free.

A lunch and bake sale to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until the food is gone at the Albert Lea Union Center. A meal of pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans and chips will be served for $5 per person. Additional pulled pork sandwiches are $2 each. A hot dog on a bun, baked beans and chips meal will be served for $4 per person with an additional hot dog for $1 each. Lemonade, coffee and water will also be served. There will be presentations at noon and 2 p.m. on cystic fibrosis and a question-and-answer period. Proceeds will be donated at the Rochester Great Strides Walk on May 1 at Silber Lake in Rochester. Riverland automotive service technology students will perform a free car check from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will perform simple maintenance and safety checks free of charge. Cars will be checked in the auto service department at Riverland in Albert Lea. The checks take only about 15 minutes no actual repairs will be performed, just inspections. A written report will be given to every participant. This event is part of National Car Care Month activities and is sponsored by Karl’s Car Quest. A small gift bag of car care samples will be given to the first 50 participants.

Worth Brewing Company in Northwood, Iowa, will hold its second annual Spring Bockfest all day. There will be music by the Last Minute Jazz Band at 7 p.m. and food and beer all day. There will be homemade German red cabbage, sausage plates and Bavarian-candied almonds. The festivities culminate with the crowning of the Bock Fest king and queen. Everyone is eligible with customers picking the winners at 8 p.m. Candidates will be judged on costume, trivia knowledge and a short statement of how he or she will promote the bock spirit year-round. The Albert Lea Alano Society, 1005 N. Ulstad Ave., will hold a breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. Pancakes, french toast, hashbrowns, eggs, sausage, coffee and juice will be served. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger.
