Robert Fulton, age 87, of Alden

Robert C. Fulton, age 87, of Alden, died on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Good Samaritan Care Center in rural Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Alden, with the Rev. Peter Soli officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss – Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Friday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at church on Saturday. Interment will be in Alden Cemetery in Alden, with military honors by the Alden American Legion Post and the Wells Color Guard.

Robert was born on May 18, 1918, in Alden, the son of Fred M. and Millie (Bangs) Fulton. He was a lifetime resident of the Alden area graduating from Alden High School in 1936. He attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He married Hazel Johnson in Nov., 1939. She preceded him in death in 1954. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater in the U.S.

Army. He was honorably discharged. He was a Mobil Oil distributor from 1944 to 1962 and owned Fulton Oil Company. He married Elizabeth &8220;Bette&8221; Schroeder in May of 1955 in Albert Lea.

He was employed at Universal Cooperative in Albert Lea. He farmed and raised sweet corn and drove school bus for Hemmingsen for 19 years.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden, Alden American Legion Post, Alden Fire Department, Alden Lion’s Club, Wells V.F.W. Post and the Albert Lea Elk’s Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking, Minn. Twins, Sunday afternoon rides with stops for ice cream, going to the lake, playing cards and visiting with neighbors and friends and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Alden, Son: James and wife Sharon Fulton of Davenport, Iowa, daughter: Jane and husband James Loge of Albert Lea, daughter: Stephanie and husband Gary Richter of Conger, daughter: Susan and husband Maurice Carrico of Apple Valley, son: Steven Fulton of Savage, Minn., daughter: Sindi Fulton of Clarks Grove, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, two sisters: Grace Jensen of St. Louis Park, and Mildred Boyer of Albert Lea, sister-in-law: Roberta Schroeder of Alden and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Rudy and Ellen Schroeder, his first wife Hazel, sister Margaret Johnson, three brothers-in-law: Holger Jensen, Roy Johnson and Art Boyer.
