Business owner faces charges over camera in women’s restroom

The Home Solutions Midwest owner who was charged last week for allegedly peeping into a women’s restroom with a remote video camera has resigned as vice president of the Albert Lea Port Authority board.

Albert Lea Economic Development Agency Executive Director Dan Dorman said he received a call from Paul Field on Monday afternoon, notifying him of the resignation.

It was Field’s second year as vice president in the organization, which is an economic-development arm of the city.

Dorman said he will work with Albert Lea Mayor Mike Murtaugh, members of the Albert Lea City Council and the other members of the Port Authority board to brainstorm over a replacement.

“From an ALEDA board standpoint, Paul did a good job,” Dorman said. “He would ask tough questions but was fair.”

He made sure to propose sound ideas, Dorman added.

Field faces a felony charge for harassment, a gross misdemeanor charge for harassment and a gross misdemeanor charge for invasion of privacy. The charges were filed late Friday in Freeborn County District Court by the Mower County Attorney’s Office.

He is accused of placing a camera in a vent in the women’s restroom at Home Solutions that transmitted to a television in his office.
