Here are highlights in history for Sept. 26, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1985 — The Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors held an open house for Tribune Editor Jim Oliver who had resigned after 17 years with the newspaper.
1975 — The new season for the Albert Lea Community Theatre would include four plays. They were the musical. “Oklahoma,” followed by “Heartbreak House,” “ Cactus Flower,” and Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.”
1965 — To provide a parking lot for the city, four buildings facing East William Street would be demolished. They were Phil’s Cafe, Christensen Dress Shop, Albert Lea Clothing Co. and Thorp Loan & Thrift Co.
