Memorial services for Douglas O. Olson, age 53, of Albert Lea, will be held
2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at the Crossroads Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Private burial services will take place at a later date. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Douglas died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at his home.
Douglas Oliver Olson was born June 21, 1952, to Oliver J. and Christine (Aulwes) Olson in Albert Lea. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church and recently attended the Crossroads Evangelical Free Church. On Oct. 5, 1979, Douglas was united in marriage to Darlene Sue Abbe. He had been employed at Streater for many years as a forklift operator in Shipping & Receiving. Douglas enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, playing cards, and especially the time spent with his grandchildren and the rest of his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Albert Lea; daughter, Michelle and husband Alex Garcia of Kyle, Texas; son, Mitchel Olson of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Isabella and Noah Garcia of Kyle, Texas, and another soon-to-be born grandchild; mother-in-law, Marilyn Abbe; sisters: Darlene Limesand of Albert Lea, Donna and husband Glaydon Trytten of Lake Mills, Ioea, and Dianne and husband Jerry Peterson of Clarks Grove; brother, Dennis and wife Carolyn Olson of North Mankato; and many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, cousins, and friends.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Olson; brother-in-law, Vernell Limesand; father-in-law, Bernard Abbe; nephew-in-law, Loren Slette; and his best friend, Steve Thompson.
Douglas will be missed by his family and many friends.
