A Christian Prayer Service for Lillian A. Shanahan will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the prayer service. A rosary service will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kucera Funeral Home in Prague, Neb., with a visitation from 5 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the rosary service. A funeral mass will be 10 a.m.Thursday at the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church at Plasi, Neb.

Memorials are preferred to the Crossroads Community Hospice, Albert Lea.

Lillian died Sunday Oct. 9, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 78 years old.

Lillian was born June 18, 1927, at David City, Neb., to Alois and Frances (Divis) Pelan. Lillian married Leo Shanahan on Nov. 14, 1950, at Marietta, Neb.

They were residents of Saunders County, Neb., and members of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Parish, Plasi, Neb. The couple engaged in farming and grade A dairy operations. This union lasted for 38 years until preceded in death by her husband. Lillian continued the dairy operation and farming with the help of her son Patrick. She retired from this

venture in 1998. She later cooked at the St. Mary’s school at David City Neb., and

worked with her cousins in the catering service. Lillian enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, sewing, dancing and especially enjoyed watching the Food Channel.

Lillian is survived by her four children: Lynn Koza and her husband Bill of Albert Lea, Peggy Souba and her husband Dennis of Omaha, Neb., David Shanahan of

Wabasha, and Patrick Shanahan of Prague, Neb. Grandchildren are: Wade, Kelly, and Nicholas Koza, Danielle, Brian, and Beth Souba, and Alexi and Mitchell Shanahan; great grandchildren: Whitney, Aiysha, and DeMara Souba; her favorite puppy, Angel; sister-in-law, Geneva Pelan of David City, Neb.;

brothers- and sisters-in-law:

Bob and Eilene Shanahan, Francis and Mary Shanahan, and Marv and Lori Shanahan; sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty Roh, Ed and Lorene Stuchlik, Ken and Patricia Tvrdy, and all their families.

Lillian is preceded in death by her parents: Alois and Frances Pelan, brother, Leonard Pelan;

brother- and sister-in-law:

Tom and Henrietta Shanahan; and

brother-in-law, Jerome Roh.

Lillian’s greatest asset in life was her love of God and family. While maintaining the family farm and dairy operation for many years, the love and direction she gave her family was enduring even until her death. Family values and love have been passed through the generations and will be for generations to come. She valued her family more than any material possessions. Lillian left this world with the words of Love on her lips. Her dying wish was for the family to &8221;Love one another as a family for it is from God and the family you get your strength.’

Her memory will live on in her children.
