Edna Jorgensen, 94, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Edna Jorgensen, of Albert Lea, will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dah1vang will officiate. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery, Alden. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
Edna died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Health Care Wing. She was 94 years old.
Edna was born Sept. 1, 1911, at Exira, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert P. and Anna C. Nelson. In 1919 they moved to Des Moines, Iowa. She attended Cattell School and graduated from high school at Grand View College in 1928. She worked for N.W. Bell Telephone Co. for one 1/2 years, at Younkers for 12 years, and at Town Mutual Dwelling Ins. Co. for 13 years.
In 1955 she married Rev. Holger Jorgensen in Des Moines, Iowa. They moved to Alden in 1959, and to Albert Lea in January 1968. She was a member of Salem
Lutheran Church where she was active in the circle, Sew and Tell and Salem over Sixty.
Edna is survived by stepdaughter, Sylvia and son-in-law, Harland Hayek; four
grandchildren; Lynne Shrum of St. Louis, Mo., Kent Hayek of Des Moines, Iowa, Scott Hayek and wife Anji of Des Moines, Iowa, and Gail Hayek of Mesa, Ariz.; three nephews: Ken McConnell and wife Betty, David McConnell and wife Nancy, and Ron McConnell and wife Jodie; and niece, Kathy
Brown and husband John.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Holger Jorgensen in 1996; three sisters: Gladys, Ethel, and Lelia and her husband,Donald McConnell; three brothers: Theodore, Gerald and Ernest Nelson and their wives; and seven nieces and nephews.
Edna was a homemaker and teammate for her husband in all the churches he served.
