Here are highlights in history for Sept. 29, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — The Albert Lea Fire Department was operating a daily Telephone Reassurance program for 35 senior citizens in the city.
1978 — A railroad rehabilitation project costing $5 million on the Milwaukee Road between Winnebago and Alden was underway.
1968 — Lea College opened for its third year with about 800 students. Of this number, 325 would be freshmen (and women).
