ST. PETER &045; Victories in the final three events for the Albert Lea girls’ swim team sealed its victory over St. Peter, 102-83.

In a matchup that was close all night long, Amanda Walters got the final push started for the Tigers winning the 100 backstroke in 1:09.21.

She was followed to the line by teammate Jackie

Elwood in second with a time of 1:10.06.

Albert Lea would sweep the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke as well with Leah Matheson taking first followed by Grace Thomas.

The victory was cemented in the final race, the 400 freestyle relay, when Whitney Walter, Elwood, Amanda Walters and Samantha Cole blew by the competition winning by nearly 10 seconds over the runner-up Saints.

&uot;We should of been further ahead but we had some close finishes,&uot; said Albert Lea head coach LaChelle Sandon.

&uot;It was a team effort, and it felt great to win this one since it was so close.&uot;

The Tigers also scored big in the 50 free where it had three of the top four finishers.

Cole won with a mark of 26.64, Amanda Walters was second in 28.59 and Korbin Wayne was fourth in 28.94.

Other victories for the Tigers came from Rachael Hagen (200 free), Elwood (100 butterfly), Cole (100 free), Hagen (500 free) and the relay team of Amanda Walters, Matheson, Cole and Whitney Walters in the 200 medley relay.

The Tiger junior varsity fell 109-64.
