Funeral services for Floyd R. Harne, 74, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church.

The Rev. John M. Henriksen will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Albert Lea. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Organizations. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Floyd was born on February 26, 1931, in Owatonna, Minn. the son of Clarence and Elizabeth (Heath) Harne. He attended school in Eagle Bend, Minn. He later moved to Ellendale where he was employed by the Ellendale Farmers Milling and Elevator and then at the Albert Lea Foundry.

Floyd,

and Harriet Anderson were united in marriage on Sept. 10, 1950 at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva.

To this marriage six children were born, Lyle, David, Chuck, Roxanne, Rhonda and Brad.

On February 27, 1952, Floyd was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army. While serving our country overseas, Floyd’s first son Lyle was born, whom he didn’t meet until he was honorably discharged on February 16, 1954.

Upon his return from the service Floyd resumed work at the Albert Lea Foundry putting in more than 30 years before retiring. After which he worked at Almco for almost a decade until his health began to fail.

Throughout his working years he also found pleasure in helping his brother-in-law Alan and friend Angus on their farms.

Floyd was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was active for more than 50 years. He proudly showed his rollerskating talents by chaperoning the church youth skating

outings for many years.

Floyd was a

&uot;Mr. Fix Anything&uot;

and loved to work on small engines, tinker, build and create. As his physical abilities failed, his mind was always working overtime

trying to help his family and others complete tasks that seemed simple to him but were perplexing to others.

When not busy working with his hands he also enjoyed the serenity of fishing.

Floyd died early Friday morning at the Albert Lea Medical Center after a

valiant battle with a very rare

physically debilitating disease, Familial Amyloidosis.

Floyd will be deeply missed by his family,

his wife Harriet, with whom

he spent one day short of 55 years, five children: Lyle Harne of Maple Grove,

Chuck Harne of Albert Lea, Roxanne and her husband Mark Sauter of Cannon Falls,

Rhonda Harne of Owatonna,

Brad Harne and his wife Lois of Farmington,

grandchildren: Andy Harne and his wife Kristen of Mpls., Kate and her husband Aaron Kardell of Maple Grove,

Ben Harne of Maple Grove, Josh Sauter of Ithaca, NY, Cassie Sauter of Sioux Falls, SD, Carrie Sauter

of Cannon Falls,

Lindsey, Paige and Ethan Harne of Farmington,

twin brother Lloyd &uot;Curly&uot; Harne and his wife Billie of Radcliff, KY, sister Betty and her husband Frank Foslein of Alexandria, , great aunt Evelyn Harne of Roseville, sister-in-law Rose Mangskau of Geneva,

and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jane Harne, infant son David Ross Harne,

brother-in-law Alan Mangskau and daughter-in-law Vickie Harne.

Floyd will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, quick wit, perseverance, and for the great integrity with which he lived.
