Harlan Bang to be featured artist for October

Art on Broadway at the Albert Lea Art Center is pleased to present Harlan Bang as the featured artist for the month of October. A former educator, Bang starting painting and drawing after retirement, and pursues his hobby mainly in the winter months. One of his favorite themes is “Vanishing America,” which includes paintings of old farm buildings and abandoned houses. Bang is self-taught but continues to finesse his art by taking classes and attending workshops. With juried shows in Minnesota and Iowa, Bang has received the Juror’s Special Mention Award at the Charles H. MacNider Museum in Mason City, and his works can be found in private and corporate collections.
The public is invited to attend a “Meet the Artist” reception for Bang at the art center from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Refreshments will be served.
Following the reception, Bang’s art will be for sale at Art on Broadway through Oct. 31.
