Funeral services for Orla M. Christensen, age 82, formerly of Clarks Grove, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Linda Gunderson will officiate. Interment will be in the North Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Orla died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Orla Mildred Christensen was born Sept. 6, 1922, to Otto and Martha (Davidson) Bergersen in Nunda Township. She was a lifelong resident of Freeborn County and graduated from Emmons High School. Orla was united in marriage to Virgil Christensen in 1947 at the North Freeborn Lutheran Church. She had worked in a grocery store in Clarks Grove and was a cake baker, both professionally and as a hobby. Orla was a member of the North Freeborn Lutheran Church and later the Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Singles & Solos, the VFW Auxiliary, the Sons of Norway, and the Eagles Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, John and his wife Cindy Christensen of Ellendale; grandsons: John P. Christensen and Erin, Brent V. Christensen and Valerie, and Jesse C. Christensen and Ashley; great-grandsons; Spencer and Samuel; brother, Marvin Bergersen; and sister, Elvina Syltie.

Orla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; and her brother, Lester.
