Claudine Riess, 85, of Rochester

Funeral services for Claudine A. Riess, 85, of Rochester, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester, and for one hour prior to the service at the church Monday. The Rev. Linda Helberg will officiate. Burial will be buried in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Claudine died Aug. 18, 2005, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

Claudine was born in Winneshiek County, Iowa. She married Walter W. Riess in 1947 and they lived in Rochester. In 1950 they moved to rural Pine Island, where they farmed until 1969. She was a volunteer in the Pine Island school system’s immunization programs. In 1969, they moved to Rochester until moving to Garrison in December of 2004.

Claudine was a registered nurse at the Mayo Clinic for 20 years.

She attended Canton Public Schools, Luther College and the Kahler School of Nursing.

Claudine loved dancing, playing cards, and entertaining.

She was a member of the Methodist Kahler Alumni Association and Bethel Lutheran Church.

Claudine is survived by her husband, Walter, son, James (Marlys) Riess of Pine River, son Robert

(Cynthia) Riess, of Brainerd, and daughter, Karen (Edward) Fandrey of Red Wing, as well as eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Claudine was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials can be sent to Seasons Hospice or Mayo Clinic for endocrinology or cancer research or donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.
