Lucille Ladwig, 84, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Lucille E. Ladwig, 84, of Albert Lea will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Monday, July 25, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Lucille died on Friday, July 22, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Lucille E. Ladwig was born on Aug. 11, 1920, in Albert Lea, the daughter of William and Emma (Kuehl) Schmidt. She graduated from Albert Lea High School.

On July 8, 1943, Lucille was united in marriage to Bernard Schwemmler in Albert Lea. Following Bernard’s death, Lucille married Heinz Ladwig in June of 1969.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, knitting, handiwork and playing cards. Lucille was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Alden American Legion Auxiliary and was active with the Conger Community Center.

Survivors include her children, Jerry and his wife, Cindy Schwemmler, of Albert Lea; Karen and her husband, Mark Nelson, of Rochester; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin, and his wife, Althea Schmidt, of Albert Lea; a sister, Charlotte Nelson, of Albert Lea and nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bernard and Heinz; her daughter, Paulette; and her brother, Donald.

Lucille leaves her friends and family with many wonderful memories and she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
