Peek at the Past

Here are highlights in history for Oct. 2, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1990 — A new railroad crossing signal was being installed near the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and Front Street.

1980 — Larry Stadheim of Hartland was injured a few days earlier as the result of an explosion and fire that destroyed the Hartland Elevator. Firemen from nine communities fought this fire.

1970 — The Clarks Grove Post Office was remodeled. A part of this project was the installation of new key-type mail boxes.
