Here are highlights in history for Oct. 5, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1983 — Glen Del’s Real Pizza Parlor in the Skyline Mall was holding a grand opening and the Tribune said customers would get both free pop and free delivery with any order.
1973 — A simulated train-bus accident at the crossing on West Clark Street was used as a training session for local emergency response, civil defense agencies and Naeve Hospital.
1943 — Albert Lea was featured in the Oct. 4 issue of Time Magazine for its plans based on economic expansion after the end of World War II.
