Leo Long, 59, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Leo L. Long, age 59, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Bayview/ Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Private burial services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at Bayview.
Leo died Friday, May 20, 2005, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Leo Leslie Long was born Jan. 3, 1946, to George Clifford and Ruth Irene (Snyder) Long in Minneapolis. The family moved to Albert Lea on Dec. 7, 1947. Leo attended schools in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. He also attended numerous IBM classes during the 32 years he was employed as a programmer/analyst for Streater Inc., and also worked at St. John’s Nursing Home for the past three years. Leo enjoyed being involved with bowling leagues here in Albert Lea, as well as in Minneapolis. He served as secretary/treasurer for over 30 years and was also involved in the Junior Bowling League. Leo had been a very active volunteer at St. John’s and was a past member of the Moose Club and the Elks.
Survivors include his sisters: Bonnie and her husband Norm Anderson of Albert Lea, Roberta and her husband Howard Germanson of Brainerd, and Nancy and her husband, Darryll Berg of Orange, Calif.; brothers: Glenn Long of Minneapolis, David and his wife, Elaine Long of Albert Lea, and Dennis Long and Mary Malherek of Blooming Prairie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary Lou Long.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
