Roy Kraushaar, 69, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Roy E. Kraushaar, age 69, of Albert Lea, will be held Wednesday, May 11, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bayvi ew/F ree born Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Roy died Friday, May 6, 2005, of a massive heart attack at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Roy Eugene Kraushaar was born in Alden on July 12, 1935, the son of Joseph and Stella (Jensen) Kraushaar. He attended and graduated from Alden High School. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alden in his early years and also a member of First Lutheran Church and currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. On Aug. 18, 1956, Roy was united in marriage to Susan Hansen and to them three children were born: Lynne, Paula and Karla. Roy spent his younger years working for Ad Art and Commercial Wood Products. He then went to work for Wilson Foods (Farmstead) from 1956 until he retired in 2000. He was currently employed at Northside Oaks Condos as a caretaker. Roy was a member of the Elks and Eagles Clubs, and was also on the Trinity Lutheran dartball team.
Roy’s lifelong passions were refinishing furniture, making children’s stools, reading Louis Lamour books, the Freeborn County Historical books and gardening. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, who called him “Papa” and his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; daughters: Lynne and husband Larry Anderson of Albert Lea, Paula and husband Gordon Rhiger of Rexburg, Idaho, and Karla and husband Michael Thompson of Albert Lea; sister, Helen Brigston of Albert Lea; brother, Lloyd and wife Delores Kraushaar of Albert Lea; six grandchildren: Tami and fiance,
Anthony Charlton, and Scott Anderson, of Albert Lea, Brandon and fiance, Dustee Statham and son Tavenm, and Elizabeth Rhiger and fiance, Carl McCay of Rexburg, Idaho, and Megan and Brooke Thompson of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Kraushaar; sister, Ella Mae Olson; brothers-in-law: Archie Olson and Harry Brigston; and sister-in-law. Delores K. Kraushaar.
Roy touched many lives with his gentle, loving, and helpful demeanor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him and sadly missed by his wife and family.
