Jean Wetzell, age 72, of Wells, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at her home in Wells after an eight month struggle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 9,
at 1:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells with the Revs. Paul Baker and Meg Sander officiating. Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells on Sunday, May 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be private.
Iola Jean Wetzell was born Nov. 11, 1932, the daughter of Bernie and Lucy (Krauss) Hawkins in Sterling, Ill. On Aug. 10, 1951, she was united in marriage to Thomas Fleming Wetzell in Milledgeville, Iii. Jean was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Hope Circle and Outreach Committee. Jean loved her family dearly, and also her cabin on West Lake Jefferson. She enjoyed feeding and observing birds.
Jean is survived by her husband, Tom Wetzell of Wells; two sons: Steve Wetzell and his wife, Nancy Weidenfeller of Minnetonka, and Tom and Pam Wetzell of Wells; one daughter, Tricia and Wayne Christopher of Jackson; six grandchildren: Ben and Megan Wetzell, Chris Wetzell and his fiancee, Stephanie Bartell, and Cole, Jacob and Kyle Christopher; two sisters: Donna and Bill Palmer of Sterling, Ill., and Lois Simmons of Milledgeville, Ill.; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Blanche Anderson; one brother, Harold Hawkins; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Wetzell.
Arrangements are by the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home, Wells.
