Joretta Jensen, 74, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Joretta LaVae Jensen will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea. Pastor Steve Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the chapel.

Joretta died on Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 74 years old.

Joretta was born in Albert Lea on January 11, 1931, the daughter of Chris and Lillian (Larson) Hagen. She attended grade school in Glenville and was a 1948 graduate of Albert Lea High School. She attended a year of business school in Minneapolis following high school.

In June of 1949 Joretta was united in marriage with Robert D. Jensen. They were later divorced.

Joretta was a member of The Church of God. During her life she had worked for J.C. Penney in Albert Lea and for Northwest Rubber Co. in Albert Lea for many years. Her most rewarding job was that of homemaker for her children. She was a member of the Glenville Senior Citizens and she enjoyed cooking, she had an large cook book collection, and in her earlier years she liked to sew.

Joretta is survived by her two children: Susan (Ken) Cafourek of Albert Lea, Ted Jensen of rural Albert Lea; three grandchildren: Stephanie (Bob) Hackney of Oakdale, Melissa (Marty) Hershey of rural Emmons, Ryan (Stacy) Cafourek of Albert Lea; three great grandchildren: Ellie and Jack Hackney, and Palmer Hershey; four brothers-in-law: Roger Christenson of California, Ronald Carpenter of Clear Lake, Iowa, Jimmy Jensen of California, and Richard (Marlene) Jensen of rural Glenville; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Arliss Davis, Phyllis Christenson, and Sharon Carpenter.
