Franklin Westberg, 82, Prior Lake

Franklin “‘Frank” Andrew Westberg, age 82, of Prior Lake and formerly of Eden Prairie and Albert Lea, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, in Shakopee.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1922, at Rossie, Iowa, the son of Alexander Nicholas and Thelma Irene (Walker) Westberg.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War 11 and served with the Eighth Air Force Group as a B-29 and B-17 pilot. He participated in the air offensive over Europe and Normandy and was awarded the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Star, and several campaign ribbons.
He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School in 1940 and was employed by Wilson Meats in Albert Lea.
He is survived by sons: Tom Westberg and wife Barbara of Frisco, Texas, and Jim Westberg and wife Kathy of St. Charles, Ill.; daughters: Pam Becker and husband Paul of Eden Prairie, and Jane Brekken and husband Mike of Rochester; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. Westberg, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Woodlake Lutheran Church, 76th Street and Oliver Avenue South, Richfield. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis on Thursday, April 14, at 10:15 a.m. Gather in Assembly Lane #4 at 10:10 a.m.
Memorials are preferred to the family.
