Evelyn Hendrickson, 94, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Evelyn (Evie) J. Hendrickson will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Bonnerup Funeral Service. The Rev Curtis Zieske will officiate. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.

Evie died Monday, March 21, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center where she had been a resident since May, 2003. She was 94 years old.

Evie was born on July 3, 1910, in Albert Lea, Josephine (Richeim) and Eli Hanson. She attended public school in Freeborn County. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Evie was united in marriage to Norman R. Hendrickson on Feb. 7, 1945, at the Trinity Lutheran Parsonage. The couple lived in Minneapolis, while Norm attended Dunwoody Institute. He then began working for the civil service at which time they moved to Rock Island, Ill., and later to Tooele, Utah. They returned to Albert Lea in 1947 where they spent the remainder of their lives.

Evie’s early hobbies included playing the piano and singing. In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards with friends, visiting with family and telling stories of days gone by.

Survivors include Evie’s son, Donald and his wife Eva Hanson of Albert Lea; sister, Arlene and husband Ronald Crowe of Hartland; grandchildren: Mick (Becky) Hanson, Vickie (Kimm) Dilling, Greg (Kris) Hanson, Kent (Patrice) Hanson, and Kurt (Denise) Hanson; 12 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norm; her sister, Erlys Jensen; and her brother-in-law, Ray Jensen.

Evie will be dearly missed by her family and by her friends and care givers at Good Samaritan Center.
