DeLoris Larson, 84, Albert Lea

The funeral service for DeLoris M. Larson will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at First Baptist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Interment will be in the Clarks Grove Cemetery, Clarks Grove. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, followed by an Eastern Star Service at Bonnerup Funeral Service. There will be visitation one hour before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Shrine Children’s Hospital or First Baptist Church.
DeLoris died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. She was 84 years old. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the loving staff for the great care that she received during the five years she lived at St. John’s.
DeLoris was born in rural Waseca on Jan. 13, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Maude (Steams) Hanson. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1939. She had been a resident of Clarks Grove, San Diego, Calif., Klamath Falls, Ore., and moved to Albert Lea in 1950. DeLoris was a member of the First Baptist Church. She had been active as a choir director, ladies auxiliary, circle and ABWM. DeLoris worked at the Albert Lea Hospital for 14 years as a nurses aide. She was a member of Eastern Star Halcyon Chapter # 21 of Albert Lea and served as worthy matron several times. She was also the originator of the Ladies Shrine Auxiliary and was a Girl Scout Leader.
DeLoris was an avid bird watcher and loved to feed the birds and squirrels. She loved music and roller skating. DeLoris started the 5th Generation singing group which traveled around to churches in the Midwest to perform.
DeLoris is survived by her husband, Bob Larson of Albert Lea; four children: Pat (Larry) Jensen of Houston, Texas, Dorene Gonzalez of Albert Lea, Richard Larson of Benton, Ill., and Jim (Amy) Larson of Eagan, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Doni Downey of Tucson, Ariz., Amanda Jensen of Houston, Texas, Anina Jensen of Houston, Texas, James Gonzalez of Mendota Heights, Minn., George Gonzalez of Albert Lea, and Emily and Adam Larson of Eagan; great-grandchildren: Taylor Jensen of
Houston, Texas, Jacob Jensen of Tucson, Ariz., Cody and Morgan Downey of Tucson, Ariz., Hunter Gonzalez of Mendota Heights, and Griffin Gonzalez of Albert Lea; and loving sisters/brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
DeLoris was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Orace Hanson; sister: Eileen; father- and mother-in-law: Helen and Albert Larson; and two sons: Paul and Harold in infancy.
