ALHS grad Damerow named to ALL-MIAC hockey team

WINONA &045; Albert Lea High School graduate Chad Damerow closed out his collegiate career in memorable fashion last weekend, as the Saint Mary’s University senior assisted on three of SMU’s four goals in back-to-back 3-2 losses to St. Olaf.

Tuesday afternoon, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference gave Damerow yet another fond memory &045; a spot on the All-MIAC men’s hockey team.

A two-time All-MIAC first-teamer, Damerow &045; SMU’s lone representative on the 20-player first team &045; appeared in all 16 MIAC games for the Cardinals, scoring five goals, while leading the team in assists with 13 and points with 18.

SMU’s Marcus Reszka and Mike Bry were honorable-mention picks. In his final season as a Cardinal, Bry scored three goals and added nine assists for 12 points, while Reszka, a junior, led all SMU defensemen with two goals and five assists for seven points.

MIAC regular-season champion St. John’s had six players named to the All-MIAC squad &045; including MIAC Player of the Year Adam Hanna &045; while MIAC runner-up St. Thomas had four first-team selections and St. Olaf had three.
