Funeral services for Nora S. Brekke, age 89, of New Richland, will be held 4 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland. Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the Church. Nora died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the New Richland Care Center.

Nora Syverine Brekke was born April 23, 1915, to Thom and Mina (Hendrickson) Thompson in Carlston Township. She graduated from Freeborn High School in 1931.

On June 26, 1936, Nora was united in marriage to Ivan Selmer Brekke at the Hartland Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Hartland area. Nora was a member of the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church and active in Ladies Aid, Circle, Sunday School, and the Handbell Choir. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, quilting, handwork, and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her children: Roger and his wife Pat Brekke of Wabash, Ind., Janice and her husband Jim Kugler of Spring Lake Park, Minn., and Janet Bailey of San Diego, Calif,; grandchildren: Greg Kugler and Kari Kugler, both of Minneapolis, Craig and his wife Dawn Brekke of Rockford, Mich., and Diane and her husband Joe Lepsi of Downers Grove, Ill.; and great-grandchildren: Isabelle and Gabriella Brekke of Rockford, Mich.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and 11 brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church.
