Here are highlights in history for Oct. 9, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — The former Lesota Tool building at the corner of East Clark Street and North Newton Avenue was being converted into use by Arends Associates.
1980 — The Albert Lea High School Marching Band directed by Laverne Walheim would provide the half-time show at the Waldorf College homecoming game in Forest City, Iowa.
1960 — About 42,000 bushels of corn spilled onto the ground when a wall on a storage bin at the Alden Elevator collapsed.
