The Albert Lea city worker injured at the end of September after part of a downed tree fell on him has been discharged from St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Albert Lea City Manager Chad Adams said the city has contacted the worker, Monte Santee, to learn about his progress.
“He has not returned to work,” Adams said. “However, we are optimistic that Monte will recover from his injuries in coming weeks and months in order to regain work activities with the city.”
Santee has been employed by the city since 2007.
He was clearing debris from a downed tree in front of 716 W. Fountain St. at the time of the incident Sept. 29.
He was reportedly cutting the tree into smaller pieces with a chainsaw when another part of the tree fell and hit him in the head, knocking him to the ground.
He was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea by ambulance, after which he was transported to St. Marys Hospital.
