Lila E. Herth, 87, Emmons

Funeral services for Lila E. Herth, age 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Emmons Lutheran Church. The Rev. Julie Fiske will officiate.
Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Lila died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Lila Eldora Herth was born Sept. 6, 1917, to Emil E. and Minnie (Peterson) Nelson in Glenville. She attended the Kalstad School, Albert Lea High School, Austin Teacher’s College and Mankato State University.
On Sept. 8, 1940, Lila was united in marriage to James Herth in Northwood, Iowa. The couple lived in Twin Lakes from 1941 until moving to a farm near Emmons in 1962.
Lila was a teacher in country schools for 10 years and then in the Emmons School District for an additional 10 years.
She was a former member of Lunder Lutheran Church and currently belonged to Emmons
Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school and was active in the women’s groups at both churches. Lila was a member of the Senior Citizens in Twin Lakes and Emmons and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She especially enjoyed her family and all her friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Lonna and her husband, Gene Lenning, of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, Steve and his wife, Jane Herth, of Alexandria; grandsons, Layne and his wife, Kathy Lenning, of Keller, Texas, and Les and his wife, Stacey Lenning, of Nashville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Lindsey Lenning of Keller, Texas; sister, Edna Halvorson, of Northwood; brother, Donald Nelson, of Glenville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; sisters, Gladys Beighley, Evelyn Seuser, Josephine Olson, Lillian Reyerson, Bernice Nagel and Doris Reyerson and brothers, Maynard Nelson and Ervin Nelson.
