ALHS grad promoted on Crookston football staff

CROOKSTON &045; The University of Minnesota, Crookston football program has announced the promotion of coach Scott Butt and the hiring of David Reiners to its staff.

Coach Butt, an Albert Lea native, has accepted the position of offensive coordinator with the Golden Eagles. As the offensive coordinator, Butt will oversee the play-calling, formations and offensive schemes for the Golden Eagles. Butt will also work with the running backs. Prior to this position, he was the offensive line coach at UMC during the 2004 football campaign.

I appreciate the trust that Coach Stassen has given me,&uot; said Butt. &uot;I feel UMC Football is an up and coming program that has quality athletes. I feel under Coach Stassen’s leadership this program is going in the right direction.&uot;

Prior to UMC, Butt coached at Jamestown College (1995-2000), William Penn University (2000-2002) and Sterling College (2002-2004).

David Reiners has accepted the position of offensive line coach with the Golden Eagles. Last season he was a student assistant offensive line coach. During his tenure at UMC, Reiners played offensive guard for the team.

&uot;I am excited for this opportunity to coach at UMC where I played college football,&uot; said Reiners. &uot;The program is moving in the right direction and I am excited to help keep the momentum going from the end of last season into the spring, summer and fall.&uot;

Reiners, a Humboldt, S.D. native, is in his second year coaching with the Golden Eagles.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
