The funeral service for Sandra Lee Petersen, of Albert Lea, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service ,and one hour before at the chapel.
Sandra died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 65 years old and had been a resident of St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Sandra was born in Austin on Sept. 18, 1939, the daughter of Melvin and Alice (Albright) Thompson. She attended Austin Public Schools. Sandra has lived in Austin, Rochester and in 1964 moved to Albert Lea. In 1954 she married Jack L. Petersen in Austin. Sandra worked at Land 0′ Lakes and Cedar Valley Services. She was a member of the Moose Lodge. Sandra enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with her family.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Jack of Albert Lea; son, Rick Petersen and wife Sheila of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Jillann and Lance Luoma of Albert Lea, and
April and Ansil Wiggins of Albert Lea; step grandchildren: Ashley and Travis; great-grandchildren: Daniel, Kaitlynn, Loryssa and Kylee; step great-grandchildren: Selena and Savanna; sisters and brothers: Glen (Margaret) Thompson of Byron, Benny Thompson of Austin, Ron (Lorraine) Thompson of Florida, Wanda (Carsten) Overby of Austin, Nancy (Vern) Tripp of Utah, Dan (Carol) Thompson of Fairfax, Minn., and
Judy Moon of Wanamingo, Minn.; sisters-in-law: Marie Turner of Austin, and Mary Thompson of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Alice and Melvin Thompson; sister, Theo Thompson of Colorado; brother, David Thompson of Staples, Minn.; brother, Richard Thompson of Minneapolis; and brother, Lowell Thompson of Rochester.
