Laura Pestorious, 91, Alden

The funeral service for Laura B. Pestorious, of rural Alden, will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Concordia Lutheran Pickerel Lake Church. The Rev. Susan Wallager will officiate. Interment will be in the Concordia Pickerel Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before service at the church.

Laura Bertha Louise died on Dec. 28, 2004, at Albert Lea Medical Center of complications from heart disease. She was 91 years old.

Laura was born to Godfrey and Emma (Tessman) Hintz on May 19, 1913, in rural Mansfield. She was the youngest of six siblings: three brothers, Orville, Emil and Adelbert, and two sisters, Gertrude and Margaret. Laura was united in marriage to Manville Pestorious on April 8, 1938, at the Mansfield Lutheran Church. She attended elementary school in rural Mansfield and graduated from high school in Alden.

Laura was baptized and confirmed at Mansfield Lutheran Church and when married, joined Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea, where she was a member ever since. Laura was a lifelong homemaker and mother. She is remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 14, 2004.

Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Janet (Pestorious) Smith and husband John Vernon Smith of Denver, Colo.; a son, Roger James Pestorious and his wife Jeannie Carol (Scott) Pestorious of rural Albert Lea; two granddaughters: Jennifer Lynn Pestorious (Holt) and her husband Mark Holt, and Jessica Marie (Pestorious) Bell and her husband Jeremy Bell; one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Nicole Holt; four step grandchildren: E. Michelle Rabouin, John M. Smith, Thomas M. Smith and James M. Smith; two step great-grandchildren: Dion Rabouin and John M. Smith II; one sister-in-law, Bernice Hintz; and many nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her five siblings.
