Tickets are purchased!

Today we’re announcing the Kuwait trip in the newspaper, so it’s finally becoming official. A few days ago Tribune Publisher Scott Schmeltzer and I looked at tickets and found the ones we liked best in regard to arrival and departure times.
I’ll be leaving Minneapolis Friday, Nov. 4, around 1 p.m. and arriving in Washington, D.C., at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time. Then I’ll have about an hour layover and take off for Kuwait City. The flight will be around 12 hours (yikes!) and will arrive around 1 p.m. Kuwait time Saturday, Nov. 5. I’ll be picked up at the airport by some Army escorts and taken to Camp Buehring, where the Albert Lea and Austin units are most of the time.
From there I’ll have a week on the ground where I’ll be very busy working on stories, photos and videos. Then I fly out late Saturday Nov. 12/early Sunday Nov. 13 and have a layover in D.C. and then fly to Minneapolis again! It will be a whirlwind week, but I’m looking forward to it!
I’ll try to update this blog as much as possible about what my experiences are like over there. Stay tuned for more information, on Tuesday we’ll be having a meeting to plan more stories!
