Larry E. Stanley, 60, Hayward

The funeral service for Larry E. Stanley, of Hayward, will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20,

at the Hayward Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Malm will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Organizations. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Larry died on Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in Utica, N.Y. He was 60 years old.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1944, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the son of Edward and Wanda Stanley. Larry attended school in Martinsburg and then at the age of 17 he entered the Army and served our country for a time in Germany. He attained his G.E.D. while in the service.

When he returned from the service he began working as a welder in Washington D.C. He later began over the road trucking which he did for more than 30 years, and was currently employed by Styer in Lakeville, Minn.

Larry married Mary (Wittmer) Ruble on June 23, 1981, in Winchester, Va.

Larry enjoyed watching western movies, fishing, doing search -a-word, and playing computer games. Going out for coffee with friends, spending time with grandchildren, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need, were among his favorite pastimes.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary of Hayward; children: Lisa Batten, Pam (Tim) Shifflett, Pat (Steve) McDaniels, Penny (Dennis) VanMetre, of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Wanda (Mike) Burnley, of Hudson, Wis.; step-children: Jayson (Roxanne) Ruble of Hayward, Sam (Dan) O’Rourke of Albert Lea, and Sue (Jim) Hoiseth of Albert Lea; granddaughter, whom he raised, Stephanie Batten of Hayward, 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Janice Rainey, Juanita Ellis, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Judy Womack of St. Louis, Mo., Barbara Stalliter of Martinsburg, W.Va., Gary Stanley of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Peg Myers and Terry Stanley of Martinsburg, W.Va.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Sharon Hemenway of Albert Lea, Jim Wittmer of Miltona, Minn., Roger (Barb) Wittmer of Osakis, and Dan (Anita) Wittmer of Parkers Prairie, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Harold and Marleda Wittmer; brothers: Jerry and Eddie; sister, Dorothy; son, Jerry Michael; and infant daughter, Tabitha.
