Robert T. Rasmusson, age 80, of Portland, ORE., formerly of Emmons,
passed away at his home on Oct. 10, 2004.
Graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Julie Fiske will officiate. The Emmons American Legion will accord military honors.
Robert was born in Emmons on Dec. 18, 1923, the son of Nels and Sophie (Trytten) Rasmusson.
He was baptized and confirmed at Emmons Lutheran Church and graduated from Emmons High School in 1941.
Bob served in the U.S. Army from March 1943 to January 1946, serving in the South Pacific, including the liberation of the Philippines and the occupation forces in Japan.
Bob returned to Emmons after his army discharge and worked for Emmons Bros. Garage until June 1960 when he went to Washington state. He worked for the Washington State Forestry Department until retiring and moving to Beaverton, Ore., where he was a caretaker/gardener for Mrs. Brown. He later moved to Portland, Ore.
Bob is a former member of the Emmons Fire Department and served as Legion Commander of Emmons Legion Post 317.
Bob is survived by brother, Neil and wife Alice; sister, Kerjil and husband Steve Yocom; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and also special friends Craig Brown and Ann Munroe and her daughter, Monique. He was never married.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Kathryn at age 1 1/2 years, and Connie and her husband Robert Newcomb; and half-sisters: Cora and her husband Harry Emmons, and Hattie and her husband James Saxton.
