The Albert Lea boys’ soccer team was without its head coach during its final game Thursday following an investigation by the Albert Lea School District.
According to district superintendent Mike Funk, a complaint was made about head coach Elia Romano.
“The district investigated the complaint and took appropriate action,” Funk said.
Funk declined further comment.
Romano said he and the school district parted ways for “personal reasons.”
Romano was in his seventh season as the Tigers’ head coach and had led the team to a 5-9-1 record prior to Thursday’s season-ending loss to Rochester Lourdes. Romano had a 57-90-10 career record at Albert Lea.
