Norman (Bill) Ganske, of 1402 Lee Ave., Albert Lea, met his maker on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at the age of 73. His last six months were spent with loving and tender care given to him by his family, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Wes Halverson.
Norm was born on Dec. 15, 1930, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Florence (Means) and
Dempster Ganske. He was an only child. His parents moved to Albert Lea when he was an infant. He was united in marriage on March 2, 1952, to Barbara Somnis of Conger. They were married in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa.
Norm was educated in the Albert Lea School System. At the age of 17 he obtained his masters electrician license. He served in the Army and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone where he continued his education. After completing his tour of duty in the Armed Forces, he resumed working with his father in the electrical construction business. Norm had worked as a maintenance electrician for Queen Products for 15 years before going to Streater Industries working as a maintenance electrician for another 17 years. In 1992, Norm’s body refused to continue, requiring him to retire.
Norm is survived by his wife, Barbara of Albert Lea; daughters and sons-in-law:
Cindy (Wes) Halverson of Albert Lea, and Angie (Robert) Richter of Oregon, Wis.; and granddaughters: Andrea (Tim) Hoheisel of Albert Lea, and Kristin
Halverson of Albert Lea.
Nonn was preceded in death by his parents: Dempster and Florence Ganske.
He wanted to be remembered as a giver not a taker.
He will be sadly missed by his loving family and all the people he touched.
