Funeral services for Marie M. Cotton, of Albert Lea, will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5,
at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Church. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Cotton died Sunday morning, Oct. 3, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 90 years of age.
Marie was born January 16, 1914, in Bird Island, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Otilia (Bruels) Keltgen. She graduated from St Mary’s High School in Bird Island and the Mankato School of Business. In her younger years she was employed as a legal secretary and court reporter in Brainerd. She was united in marriage to Arnold E. Cotton on Nov. 4, 1937 in Brainerd. Since 1947 she has made her home in Albert Lea where she spent her time taking care of her family.
Marie was an active member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and the CCW. She was the assistant to the secretary of the Freeborn County Girl Scouts of America, and an avid bridge player.
Marie is survived by her children: Arnie and his wife Barbara of Glendale, Calif., Bruce and his wife Bonnie of Palm Desert, Calif., Colleen and her husband Rick Backman of Woodbury, Minn., and Mary and her husband Mike Lee of Long Grove, Ill.; grandchildren: Julie (Scott), Carrie (Mike), Andrew (Michele), Candace, Chad, Jason, Ryan, Megan, Daniel, Michelle and Mark; great-grandchildren: Adam, Madelyn, William and Grace; one sister, Bernie Vinck of California; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold, in 1970; brothers: Vincent, Hank, Bill and infant brother Edmond; and sisters: Agnes Hefti and Delores Rippey.
Marie will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends.
