Lester James Christensen, age 88, of Alden, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells today from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Alden Cemetery at a later date.
Lester James Christensen was born on Oct. 27, 1915, the son of Allie and Amanda (Johannsen) Christensen in Freeborn. He married Alice Hanson on November 1949 in Alden. The family moved to Motley, Minn., in the fall of 1920.
He graduated from Motley High School in 1933. He and his brother Orin owned and operated a garage in Alden for many years. After retiring from his mechanics business in 1970, he delivered Winnebago motor homes all over the US. Lester was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was a volunteer fireman for the Alden Fire Department, and a member of the Alden Lions Club.
Survivors include a brother, Irving and wife Frances Christensen of Motley, Minn.; one sister,
Ruth and her husband Dick Grover of Barronett, Wis.; special friend, Ron and his wife Lois Theobald and their children, Robert and Rhonda, of Mankato; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great nieces and – nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; four brothers:
George, Orin, Alvin and Dale; two sisters: Myrtle Faxon and Gladys Christensen; and one great nephew, Kyle Jensen.
