Tigers excel at Section 1A meet

NORTHFIELD — Just one season removed from a single win season, the Albert Lea girls’ swimming and diving team already have five wins and on Saturday they accomplished even more.
At the Section 1A true team invitational the girls, led by Lindsey Horejsi and Karli Kriewall, finished third overall in the team standings.
Horejsi torched the record books at the section meet, setting two meet records, a pool record and a team record.
She secured individual victories in the 200-yard individual medley with a meet record time of two minutes and 14.83 seconds.
The eighth-grader also won the 100 breaststroke with a meet, pool and school record time of 1:06.01. The team record was formerly held by Megan Broskroff with a state championship winning 1:06.17.
Kriewall finished second in one-meter diving with a score of 329.35. Morgan Field finished second in the breaststroke with a 1:12.20.
Kemma Bergland, Field, Galen Schulz and Horejsi paired up to finish second in the 200-medley relay, with a time of 1:57.24.
Albert Lea finished sixth in the true team state meet wild card standings, with only the top four advancing.
The Tigers return to the pool tomorrow with a home meet against Rochester John Marshall.
