Editorial: Football is a team sport

Listening to the Minnesota Vikings game on the radio sure is a lot better than watching it on television.
Why?
Because if you listen to the rotating sportscasters that the TV networks give us viewers, they hype up the stars. You don’t even know about other guys on the team.
However, the announcer and commentator on the radio broadcast will explain the lesser-known players. They tell us about guys who were undrafted free agents who made teams and did well.
In other words, the radio guys know that football is a team sport. The TV guys seem to think that only the players who touch the ball or tackle the ball carriers seem to matter.
Plus the radio guys have been with the team all season. The TV guys swoop in for one game, then go do a different team next week.
If you like football, try watching the game on TV, turning the sound down, and listening to the radio broadcast instead. It’s a better experience.
